Title: ‘Ayahuasca’, Illustration Art by Anna Heimkreiter (2021)
From the series: ‘States of Consciousness‘, a collection of 7 artworks on plant medicine, psychedelics and the expansion of human consciousness
About the artwork: The Amazonian plant medicine Ayahuasca is often referred to as ‘la abuela’ (grandmother), as the experience is characterized by a loving, feminine flow of energy. This is what I tried to represent in this artwork mostly, but I also tried to bring the visuals alive that accompany the experience.
Among the most frequently occurring visions are tropical fauna, geometrical patterns, and wild animals. Especially the snake and jaguar play an important role in communicating with our inner world. The snake is seen as a messenger of rebirth and transformation. The jaguar serves as a powerful guardian, symbolizing strength and confidence. The double helix, emerging from the bowl of Ayahuasca the women are holding, hints at the recalibration of DNA.
To me, Ayahuasca has had a deeply transformational impact on my life. I hope this artwork will awaken the spirit of the jungle within you and bring lots of light to your space, reminding you of your inner strength and connection to the source.
