Title: ‘The Maiden’, Illustration Art by Anna Heimkreiter (2021)
From the series: ‘The 7 Feminine Archetypes’, a collection of 7 artworks on femininity and goddesses, based on Jungian psychology and ancient mythology.
About the artwork: Like many women, I was once the Maiden. Yet learning to navigate her way through the world and finding her personal strengths. Often embodied by women at the beginning of their lives, the Maiden carries a spirit of innocence and playfulness. At heart, she is an idealist who yet has to learn how to turn her dreams into reality.
The Maiden moves through the world intuitively, highly receptive to opportunities for personal growth. For this illustration, I drew inspiration from Persephone, the Goddess of Spring. Her receptiveness and fertility are often represented by the pomegranate. Since ancient times, white lilies symbolize purity, femininity and innocence. They do not only stand for the maiden’s youthful beauty, but also her readiness to blossom.
Women with strong Maiden energy light up their surroundings with their empathetic and thoughtful demeanor, are always open to learn and adapt, and are often a source of creativity and inspiration.
