About the artwork: This self portrait symbolizes the personal growth I’ve been going through the past few years – a time when I finally started becoming more of myself. The process of growth comes with a lot of vulnerability. We may feel naked, exposed, and uncertain.

The birthing of a new phase in our lives is a delicate undertaking – it requires the willingness to leave behind how we previously defined ourselves, the ability to let go, and a lot of trust in the journey. Only then can we evolve, like a tree that has shed its leaves in the previous season of its life. The ‘naked’ stage of personal growth is always a little (or sometimes even very) uncomfortable, whether we grow as an individual or as a society.

But isn’t growing all we’re here for? The discomfort, the lessons, the struggles, they’re all part of our journey – so we might just as well embrace them. By surrendering to the process, we gain nothing but strength, confidence, self-knowledge and awareness. And that is the time when you are ready to come back in full bloom.
