Title: ‘Run Wild’, Fine Art Photography by Anna Heimkreiter (Self-portrait, 2019)
Location: Glarus Alps, Switzerland
About the artwork: Oh, where does the heart feel freer than when running wildly through the mountains? I can’t think of a better place to be than among those giants. The majesty and force of mountains humble you, yet I can’t help but feel that we can sense our own power more strongly in their presence, too.
This self portrait was taken on the foot of a 2700m-high mountain which I climbed several days later. On this day, it was shrouded in clouds and you could only sense its powerful presence. Early summer must be my favorite season in the mountains – when the snow melts, the wildflowers bloom and the mountains become alive again.
That’s when I love to run barefoot across the meadows, wild and free, and take a deep breath of the clean mountain air that refreshes your soul.
