Title: ‘The Sage’, Illustration Art by Anna Heimkreiter (2021)
From the series: ‘The 7 Feminine Archetypes’, a collection of 7 artworks on femininity and goddesses – based on Jungian psychology and ancient mythology
About the artwork: Let’s enter the realm of deep understanding. Also known as the Wise Woman, the Sage is a fountain of wisdom that is appreciated and sought out by her surroundings. She is often represented by an elderly woman, but I believe many of us can tap into this kind of profound wisdom already in our younger years.
The Sage pursues the path of self-improvement with discipline and is not afraid to let go of past versions of herself when they no longer serve her. She appreciates logic and strategy and has a never-ending thirst for knowledge – so I think the books in this artwork are pretty self-explanatory. But did you know that the olive branch and the owl are also mythological symbols for Athena, Goddess of Wisdom?
Just like Athena, the Sage is intelligent, strategic and devoted to inner growth. This is a wonderful artwork for all seekers of knowledge – the Sage knows her power and speaks her truth and that’s what makes her so valuable in this world.
